         BELIEVES AND RISK OF HIV TRANSMISSION
Aids was particularly known as Gay-related immune deficiency (Grid) in which it is the origin name .It was discovered back in 1979-1982 in new York.
In Africa it was believed that a man was infected by HIV in Democratic Republic of Congo in 1959.it is believed that HIV in Africa is a course in many communities.
It is also believed that HIV was discovered to be an Ape(monkey) disease.
Poverty being the main factor of widely spread of HIV transmission in Africa. Communities like the Nailotes,Borana ,Somali and many others still practises their culture of inheritance of wives after their husband’s have passed on. where by the husbands die because of HIV disease and as a result their wives continue spreading the virus ,also practice of polygamous marriage is even today.
Belief’s increase in risk behaviors to counter the protective effect of ART on reducing overall transmissibility of HIV virus. In 1990-2006 large numbers of people have increased due to stigmatization, ignorance and beliefs about HIV  from different communities in which it does increases the chances of HIV transmission. People believed that HIV can be cured ,whereas some visited pastors for miracles and prayers ,and some visited witchdoctors for hubs and cleansing for treatment of the virus, thus enabling and increasing of the numbers of infections due to their beliefs. Others who went for medical check up got chance in learning the preventions, nutrition and how to control the virus so that it can stop to spread at a high rate.
HIV programs and medication have been introduced in public in order to bring the truth about HIV/Aids and its preventions measures. A few communities have changed by introducing modern ways of circumcisions and avoiding girl child circumcision. Cultural practices like circumcision by use of one knife which was a risk of HIV infection if one of the victim is positive.
Use of condoms and preps help’s in preventions of HIV. Abstinence’s being the best method in prevention of HIV virus. Knowledge is passed on to from one community to the other by teaching on how to abstain from unprotected sex and avoid cultural beliefs that risk any HIV transmission and STIs.

    You can only get Hiv if the bodily fluids of someone
    who already have hiv get into your body
    Having fewer sex partners can lower your chances
    of having sex with someone who is HIV POSITIVE
    or another STDS

    Some people also believe that HIV transmission by someone on antiretroviral drugs is impossible. While the drugs can lower the amount of virus that is the viral load in the blood, it could still register in semen or vaginal fluid(the virus) and be passed on. The chances are pretty slim but possible. Let's all abstain or use condoms if sex is a must.

    HIV transmission occurs in many ways like someone with or who has a history of STIs can be infected easily with HIV if he/she comes into contact with a HIV/AIDS infected person, mother to child transfusion either during birth or through breastfeeding and many other ways, people in the society need to speak out about this pandemic by providing enough information on how one gets infected and especially means of controlling its spread.

    We should discourage beliefs of wife inheritance because in other way it does reduces the high chances of HIV transmission and the number increase of deaths . Through solving this esue w should teach and help communities understand the risks of their beliefs.
