Social impacts of HIV on the society
This is a threat to social and economic development
1.Human Development Index
human development index is the measure of development based on socio-economic indicators It has also continued to diminish the chances of alleviating poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing child and maternal mortality, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
2.Households and Families
They range from
increased medical costs and expenditures
on funerals to withdrawal of family members from work or school to look
after those who are ill. families spent less
on entertainment and on children’s education to cope with rising care, support and
treatment costs due high cost of hiv disease treatment
3.Education
AIDS also reduces the amount of money available for school fees, and forces an increasing number of dropouts teachers infected by the disease lead to low level of education since they wont be able to teach well
4.Labour
The Labour supplied will be low because of the loss of skilled workers who die of HIV/AIDS The disease will also lead to increase in absenteeism and the entry into the labour market of less experienced young people and older persons who have not worked before.

Aid has significant imapct on education and skeled segments of society becousb HIV primarily infected productive young adults rather than children or the elderly ,the stigma attached to HIV and AIDs adds to the implement encounter in mounting aresponse to aid in addition to the descrimination already faced by infected individual

HIV has led to a huge number of students dropping out of school and losing hope in their academic life .
ReplyDeleteIt has led to family using all their resources and wealth so as to cater for the infected.
HIV has led to family separation where children are taken to their relatives to be taken care of.some have ended up dropping out of school so that they can take care of their affected parents.

HIV has proven a big blow to the economy since skilled individuals are losing their lives because of this illness

Living with HIV or AIDS can be distressing without positive social support from the families/households . People living with this medical condition who experience discrimination might begin to feel hopeless, experience depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts or feelings of worthlessness.

HIV leads to decline in education.this is simply because,students both infected and affected will= not yield much in education simply because;their parents paying for their fees are dead leading to them getting out of school.others may continue with the studies but affected with stress hence low performance.

It hasn't been easy for the people living with HIV neither for their relatives and friends years ago when people were unaware of AIDS .the infected were treated like issolates even in the hospital where they should be taken care of .hence there was labour reduction since no one would employ an infected person in education institutions pupils and student's were discriminated therefore the rate of school dropout was very high putting the future of nations in to risk
