PRECAUTION OF CARE TAKER IN HIV/AIDS
Exposure to bodily fluids of someone infected by HIV can put you at risk of contracting the disease. But if you learn how to protect yourself, you will lessen your risk.
HIV can only be transmitted through bodily fluids such as semen, blood , vaginal fluids and saliva though no case have been documented.
Bodily fluids that cannot transmit HIV include; tears, sweat, vomit, urine and feaces. However it all this contain blood, it can transmit the virus.
Here are some of the precautions
Wear gloves when in contact body fluids
Keep wounds covered (both those of caregiver and the infected person.
Always wear gloves to protect hands when cleaning up spills of blood and other body fluids
Clean cutlery, linen, bath etc with ordinary detergents
Do not share toothbrushes, razors, needles or other sharp instruments that can pierce the skin.
Wash your hands with detergents after changing soiled bed sheets and contacts after any contact with body fluids
Use condoms incase of sexual activity
Patient can be bathed without wearing gloves if neither caregivers or patient has wounds

ReplyDeleteChallenges that family caregivers of HIV patients face include financial issues, social stigma, and lack of support from others in their circle of family and friends who often lack an understanding of HIV.
Protecting oneself when treating infected people or giving first aid to a person is important, its a great advantage when using gloves and protective garments .Incase you find yourself in an accident(car accident) where you find yourself having cuts and injuries and other you find you body mixed with othet peoples blood .After treatment of the injuries take effective responsibility and take yourself to the nearest VCT.

Its better for one's self to be carefull when in relationship or even a family or friend who is HIV positive. incase is with one who is infected is better to use protection and avoid shairing any related sharp objects.

ReplyDeleteThey were extended to treat all blood and body substances as if they were infected with the same precaution all times have changes with infection risk precaution have changed as well standards precaution are used to protect the transmission of disease to healthcare woker and to other patients.

ReplyDeleteit is good for care takers of infected people to be tested whether they are infected or not because accidentally one might inject infected person with a needle and inject himself or herself,so after tested handle these people with alot of care,use the required instruments to protect yourself,i.e gloves e.t.cBY FAITH

HIV/AIDS caretakers should Wear gloves when taking care of infected patient, who have open or healing wounds, or skin infections and when in contact with blood or body fluids, secretions however they should also wash hands before and after direct patients contacts.

ReplyDeletePrevention is better thn cure and therefore nurses who dress wounds of HIV infected persons and doctors.should be sensitized of advanced ways to prevent them from contacting the virus.gloves ain't 100% certain what about needles that have drawn an infected persons blood that ends up pricking the nurse or doctor in the process leading to infections.
Before a more advanced way of prevention while taking care of HIV and Aids victims nurses doctors and families of infected persons should be very cautious while giving service to victims

ReplyDeleteCaretakers should wear gowns and gloves when the splashing of blood or body fluids occur. Wash hands immediately and thoroughly when contaminated by bodyfliuds or blood. The care giver should always lookout for certain changes in the patient's condition And ensure proper nutrition and comfort.
