HIV CO-INFECTIONS
Co-infection means a person is living with more than one infection at a time.
1.hepatitis C
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a disease that infects the liver factors, such as alcohol intake, duration of hepatitis C infection being older than 40 and using certain antiretrovirals (ARVs) may also wors hien liver damage. People with fewer than 200 CD4 cells are more likely to have liver damage from hep C.
2.tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most common co-infections that people living with HIV can develop. tb is the leading cause of death among people living with hiv in 2017 approximately 30000 people died from AIDS -related TB Someone with untreated latent TB infection and HIV infection is much more likely to develop TB disease during his or her lifetime than someone without HIV infection.
Among people with latent TB infection, HIV infection is the strongest known risk factor for progressing to TB disease.
A person who has both HIV infection and TB disease has an AIDS-defining condition
3.Cancer
The connection between HIV/AIDS and certain cancers is not completely understood, but the link likely depends on a weakened immune system. Most types of cancer begin when healthy cells change and grow out of control, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign
Cervical cancer starts in a woman's cervix, the lower, narrow part of the uterus. The uterus holds the growing fetus during pregnancy. The cervix connects the lower part of the uterus to the vagina and, with the vagina, forms the birth canal. Cervical cancer is also called cancer of the cervix

partners should know each other status' like in case of oral candidiasis if one if the has that fungal disease then they should avoid oral sex

ReplyDeleteHIV co infections have increased in number of infections since most that contact them have a weak immune system.most especially those infected with the virus end up contracting this co infections and it has led to earlydeaths on HIV infected versions who are not taking their ARV drugs hence their immune becomes extremely weak.
When someone is infected with HIV it is his/her own responsibility to seek medical check ups . This check ups assist in identifying other diseases that may be brought by HIV virus

ReplyDeletePeople with AIDS the ones with or met with these hiv co-infection.this is due to low CD4 cells in the body i.e below 200 CD4 cells.The immunity to fihgt disease also reduces and those other diseases like hepatitis C,tuberculosis cancer,cholera e,t,c gets high chance in the bady of infected and that is why most of HIV positive people they are dying not because of HIV but its HIV co-infection.BY FAITH

ReplyDeleteHIV and AIDS infected people's bodies are already weak, addition to any other diseases such as cancer and other ones is very risky for them because it probably leads to death. Infected people should avoid things that may lead to being infected with other diseases, they should not take harmful drugs such as bhang, alcohol etc, other infections end up destroying the immune system even more and therefore their bodies can no longer fight all the diseases.
