BASIC RIGHTS OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV AND AIDS
People living with HIV infection and AIDS should have the same basic rights and responsibilities as those which apply to all citizens of the county.
Liberty, autonomy, security of the person and freedom of movement.
People living with HIV /AIDS have the same rights to liberty and autonomy security of freedom of movement as the rest of the population. No restrictions should be placed on the free movement of HIV- infected people and they may not be segregated, isolated or elsewhere merely because of their HIV-positive state.
2.confidentiality and privacy.
People with HIV infection and AIDS have the right to confidentiality and privacy about their health and HIV status. Health care professions are ethically and legally required to keep all information about clients or patient confidential. Information about a person’s HIV status may not be disclosed to anybody without that persons fully informed consent. After death the HIV status of the status deceased person may not be disclosed to anybody without the consent of his or her family partner expect when required by law.
3.Health and support service, public benefits, medical scheme and insurance
People with HIV/AIDS have the same rights to housing, food, social security, medical assistance and welfare as all other members of our society. Public measures should be adopted to protect people with HIV/AIDS from discrimination in employment, housing, education child care the provision of medical, social and welfare services. Medical schemes may not discrimination unfair directly or indirect against any person on the basis of his or her state of health.
4.Education on HIV/AIDS
All people have the right to proper education and full information about HIV/AIDS as well as the right to full access to and information about prevention methods. Public education with the specific objectives of elimination against person with HIV or AIDS should also be provide.
5.Right to safer sex
All person has the right to insist that their sexual partners take appropriate precaution measures to prevent the transmission of HIV.The especially vulnerable position of woman in this regard should be recognized and addressed as should the especially vulnerable position of youth and children.
6.The responsibilities of the media
Persons with HIV infection or AIDS have the right to fair treatments by the media and to observance of their rights to privacy confidence. The public has the right to informed and balance coverage of and the presentation of information and education .
Conclusion. Like all human beings,people living with HIV have the right to marry and have children. They should have access to counseling to know that there are medicines that women living with HIV can take during pregnancy to prevent their children from contracting the infection. Apart from these right they also have freedom to worshig,,,they should not be descriminated by any mean,,,,they have the right to choice the religious they fill they are free from,,goverment should also protect them from false propaganda and any one found spreading propaganda should be taken an action
ReplyDeleteThis is very true, HIV infected people must have the equal rights as the uninfected. They should not be discriminated in any way because they are also human beings just the same way as we are. If at any point they are denied their rights they will lose hope in living and also become more desperate which is cont-rally to what is expected.

HIV and AIDS victims should be treated as other beings and have the same basic rights and responsibilities as those which apply to all citizens of the country. We should not show any kind of act which may lead them to hate themselves for being HIV/AIDS victims, instead we should show love, kindness and treat them as we like to be treated. #no discriminations against them since we all blead the same blood.

ReplyDeleteInfected patients with HIV, they all need free freedom treatment compared to the un infected person. In Kenya all rights are for all citizens whether infected with HIV or not. Treating them equally to others will lead to some who had not exposed there status to expose them selves thus helping the community to help educate and prevent increase of the HIV infections.

Giving HIV persons their rights makes them feel more like normal people limiting their rights makes them loose self esteem and it seems more like judging them instead of giving them support and love
