COMMUNITIES ATTITUDE TOWARDS HIIV
To be able to deal with HIV/AIDS in our community, it is important to look at our own attitude towards people living with the disease.Anyone can get HIV/AIDS , maybe it doesn't matter how a person get infected because some are born with it and others got it through rape, what matters is that we support them.
A big percentage of people in the community have negative attitudes towards HIV/AIDS and people living with it.Most of them especially the youth do not go for HIV testing not because they do not want to know their status but because of that fear that if found positive they will be exposed.Seeing of how the infected people have been stigmatized in the society ,no one can bear being separated from the community by being open about his/her status. The community has ignored its own problems mainly because they fear that HIV/AIDS infected people brings a negative impact or change in the community . Others believe that one can get infected by associating with the infected people, this has affected a lot because the infected people have been left alone without anyone to care for them.
I strongly disagree with "Anyone can get HIV"
ReplyDeleteLarge percentage of people get it through careless sex "unprotected sex", and ignorance.
by saying anyone can be infected by HIV/AIDS I mean HIV/AIDS does not choose who to infect or not, its upon an individual to be careful about himself/herself.
DeleteWe should take care of them, give them love and provide what they want/need
ReplyDeleteIts true that many people fear going for Hiv testing not because they dont want to know their status bt because of how the community treats people with hiv, so the community should change on how they look at hiv positive people..
ReplyDeleteCommunity should not have attitudes toward infected or rather they should support and make them feel free living with it,also they should urge people to take Hiv test without fear_ Angie.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone in the community has an attitude towards them.
DeleteIt could be lack of knowledge. Now that we are educated, we have gotten a different view of the disease. We can start at an individual level to help others learn how to handle the infected people

ReplyDeleteIn addition,to that they also should stop discriminating and stigmatizing those infected by HIV and aids
ReplyDeletepeople with HIV/AIDS should accept themselvess and for the commmunity they should accept them and treat them well
ReplyDeleteThe communities need to be educated on this issue of HIV so that stigmatisation can come to an end....Edward.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is partly due to such ill informed ignorance that some of this issues surrounding HIV are still problematic. We are hampered by the stigma that surrounds this infection, with people unwilling to came up foward for testing or admit to be HIV positve.Indeed it makes some individuals unwilling to accept help and treatment incase 'someone finds out'
ReplyDeleteThe people in the community should have a positive attitude towards the infected people so as to give them hope and to have a positive attitude and prospective towards life
ReplyDeleteAlthough awareness of HIV and AIDS is high in Kenya, many people living with HIV face high levels of stigma and discrimination which prevent people accessing HIV services.HIV testing, especially the introduction of self-testing kits and counselling (HTC) has become a major feature of Kenya’s HIV response, and a key milestone in the fight against stigma and new HIV infections-Ann Nduta Kimani
ReplyDeleteComunity will accept this people as long as we create awareness on the facts about Hiv to the community and the people living with Hiv to accept themselves
ReplyDeleteCommunity should be informed on the facts about Hiv so as to accept this people since they are also human beings

ReplyDeleteHIV/AIDS infected persons are still part of the community and they need us as much as we need them in terms of community development e.t.c
ReplyDeleteThe community should show, love and care to the affected HIV victim's. Since HIV has many ways of transmi transmission not just through unprotected sex as many think.community should accept the fact that there Hiv victims living in and the government should support them, financially and materially .by Christine
ReplyDeleteThe fear of the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS may prevent people from having an HIV test and from seeking treatment. This fear may prevent a person from acknowledging his or her own HIV status. The lack of knowledge on the subject will lead to the HIV positive or AIDS victim being stigmatised or branded. How often have you heard of others not wanting to allow their children to have contact with an HIV positive person? How many people have ended the services of their maid when it was discovered that he/she was HIV positive? Are you willing to be friends with an HIV positive person or with a victim of AIDS? It is the stigma attached to the illness that causes us to feel and think in this manner. The stigma exists in most cases due to ignorance about the illness. Once the stigma exists then the tendency is to discriminate against these people. They are ill and are seen to be untouchable. We incorrectly believe they have a disability that can be spread by touch, by drinking out of the same cup, if they sneeze. We treated them like lepers with a highly infectious disease.

DeleteIt is not right to shun HIV infected persons... One may have acquired it through an accident or transfusion or other means that were not their fault... They should be treated with love and understanding and care
ReplyDeleteKaisy
The community should show them love otherwise some of them may end up killing themselves because some of them may not stand the negativity

Not that everyone can get HIV, the most important thing is to care those who have and show love maybe it woaint their fault to have it

ReplyDeletefor sure Hiv/Aids is a killer disease and everybody should volunteer to create awareness about its consequences around the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that the communities discriminate people living with HIV AIDS since they think that everyone who is infected got infected due to immorality and assume that they are immoral people. By; Samia
ReplyDeleteBe available to have open, honest conversations about HIV. People diagnosed with HIV may not always want to talk about or may not be ready. They may want to connect with you in the same ways they did before being diagnosed. Do things you did together before the diagnosis. Show them that you still see them as the same people before they were diagnosed. Encourage them.
ReplyDeleteIt is good we show love, care and hope also to those who are victims of hiv/aids so that they dnt feel discriminated
ReplyDeleteWhen people with HIV are accept ,encouraged and well taken care of we give them a reason for living and they accept themselves and have new lease of life

ReplyDeleteNot all communities are the same in carrying the people living with HIV and AIDS so wil encourage them and some wil make them discouraged ...as as community its good to encourage the people living with this diseases
ReplyDeleteAlthough people in the society always end up descriminating those with hiv ,, we,,that we have knowledge about the disease should help them in accepting themselves and taking care of them ,,also educating the others in not discriminating them ...by Immaculate
ReplyDeleteThe society should instead stand by those affected. They should show them love, care and concern. Those infected people need motivation and understanding which will boost their self esteem and courage.
ReplyDeleteMaureen
I think it is advisable to show love and care to all the people infected with HIV/AIDS so that they may not fell inferiated
ReplyDeletei think it of good help to laugh anti stigmatization to educate people how to live with the victims and offer free condom to minimise the spread of the virus

ReplyDeleteI highly appreciate the community for love, support and encouragement for affected people .however through this it give them sense of hope and love among them..by Rahma
ReplyDeleteCreating awareness to the public about HIV and AIDs is crucial because we are all infected or affected.
ReplyDeleteDiscrimination and lack of care towards the infected will influence disclosure which could lead to more infections.
Positive attitude helps in HIV management.

People who have infected with hiv need care and support from their friends families and the showing love respect and support

Due to existing discrimination against wo-men in various communities attitudes towards those who get infected are often less compared to the attitudes towards men in the same situation.Infected women are often blamed for infecting their husbands and unborn children and are described instigmatising terms such as ‘vectors’, ‘diseased’ and‘prostitutes’* terms that are rarely used when de-scribing infected men.
ReplyDeleteThrough educating the community about HIV has lead to proper taking care of the infected, even though to some community they are seem to be a course even up to this century .HIV being a world virus it infects everyone that is the rich, middle class and the poor.
ReplyDeletePeter
This menace may come to a stop when several people or all of them are taught about it and its results since one is either affectd or infected
ReplyDeleteKoinet
The community has chosen to stigmatize people living with HIV instead of embracing them. Hence like the last point we should set aside the hypocrisy and accept the affected as part of the community.
ReplyDeletePeople infected with the HIV virus should be taken care of well and treated as members of the community to so that they may not feel left out
ReplyDeleteEarly then HIV was seemed to be a course and for the poor people, but now even the rich experience what really HIV is, leading to equity among the community without any discrimination.
ReplyDeleteMost communities tend to isolate and care less about people living with HIV because 'They'll eventually die.
ReplyDeleteThe community should be brought to openness about the existence of HIV and learn to be courageous and accepting is there
Hellen
Community should take good care of the victim by giving the hope
ReplyDeleteIn the early years the community believed that hiv infection was a punishment from the ancestors who passed it to wrong doers hence the pple did not care to look into the disease. This also means that children were exposed to the disease in ways such as early marriages, initiation etc
ReplyDeleteWe should not distance ourselves from infected people but we should show them love and take care of them.Furthermore,we should encourage young people to get tested and accept the outcome
ReplyDeleteHiv and Aids is real.people in the community do lack knowledge on how it's acquired, transmission, pprevention etc.let us use the knowledge we have acquired to educate them.by Winny c.
ReplyDeleteon my part i think the government has failed ,if its EBOLA the government will deploy all tactics available to curb the spread but not so on HIV and AIDS .Let the government conduct education on HIV and AIDS at all levels.
ReplyDeleteThe community needs to greatly assist the infected people by giving them hope all and moral support. Due to this the victims feel accepted.
ReplyDeleteAs a community we should saw love to the inffected and assist counsel the affected.
ReplyDeleteWhen people with HIV are accept ,encouraged and well taken care of we give them a reason for living and they accept themselves and have new lease of life
ReplyDeleteHIV is first and for most there in the community.the infected should be treated equally and should not be stigmatized.it should be educated to the community on its ways of spreading people should go for vcts to no their status
ReplyDeleteI encouraging the communities should have positive attitude towards peoples with hiv/aids nd giving them support.
ReplyDeleteBy Zamzam Ahmed
Community should accept them but not discriminate them instead they have to show them love, care and support always the infected once,so that the infected once can have hope in life...
ReplyDeleteThe community in general is to be educated further on HIV and AIDS and people ahoulshou be discriminated and set aside from the others it's not right
