DISCOVERY OF HIV

Hiv remains one of the worlds most signigicant public health challenges, particulary in low and middle-income countries. As a result of recent advances in access to anti-retroviral therapy, HIV positive people now live longer and healthier lives. ARV'S prevent onward transmissions of HIV.
HIV was 1st discovered by a scientist in 1983 after doctors in Los Angeles and New York began reporting rare types of pneumonia and cancer among gay patients. According to some reasearch centers people between the ages of 13 to 24 today account for just over one in five HIV  diagnosis. Over 80% of these cases occur in gay or bisexual males and over half of them are African-American.
Infact black, gay and bisexual men have a higher HIV rate than other countries in the world. Black people, in general have a high risk of hiv infection than any other racial or ethnic group and mostly occured in sub-saharan Africa.
Homosexuals or more sexually active gays are recommended to be tested for HIV once a year, but there are gay patners who have more than one patner are recommended to undergo a HIV test every 3 to 6 months,  cause they have a higher chance to contract the virus.
Some of the factors that may put bisexuals at risk of HIV infection include;
Anal sex-This is because in this practise they dont use condoms more oftenly and are most vulberable at this moment.
Stigma and discrimination-Bisexual people maybe judged harshly and therefore maybe in fear of getting tested.
Gays or bisexual men can take the following steps toreduce the risk of HIV infection;
Have less risky sex by using protection
Limit the number of sexual patners
Use condoms consistently and correctly
Consider pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)
a prevention for people who are negative
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) isan HiV prevention option for peopke who are HIV negative and at a higher risk of getting HIV. People on PrEP take a specific HIV  medicibe every day. HIV hnegative gay and bisexual men atvhigh risk of getting HIV  should consider PrEP.
Bisexuality is rising in this age and should be a growing concern. Lesbians also have risk of getting HIV due to vaginal juices that they produce which include menstrual blood and bloodfrom damag sustained during rougher sex. A rare  instance female-female sexual transmission was reported over ten years ago and was attributed to the sharing of sex toys.
However gays are more likely to get HiV than lesbians according to some  reasearch due to unprotected sex from patners engaging in sexual activities.

  1. Discovery of HIV does not really matter,what does matter is how it can be controlled and cured ,thus being no cure the scientists have helped by introducing ways of preventing by introducing the antiretraleviral drugs to the world.
