UNDETECTABLE VIRAL LOAD

When the amount of HIV in the blood is too low to be detected with a viral load(HIV RNA)test.A person ‘s viral load is considered durably undetectable.when it remains undetectable for 6 months after  ,then the person may be offered treatment and drugs called Antiretroviral (ARV) to reduce the your viral load to undetectable level .However that does not mean that the person is cured.
The term Viral load refer to the amount of HIV in a sample of your blood .When your viral load is high ,it means that  you have more HIV in your body and that means your immune system  is not fighting HIV as well.Viral load test is a lab test that measures the number of HIV particles in milliliter of your blood .Viral load test help provide information on your health status and how well Antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment with HIV medicine is controlling the  virus.
ART can’t cure HIV but prevent the virus from multiplying in the body and reduce your risk of HIV transmission. Its main goal of ARV  is to lower your viral load to undetectable level. Viral load will be declared “undetectable”if it is under 40 copies in a sample of your blood test.Exact number depend on the lab that analyzes your  test.
Having undetectable viral load greatly lowers your chances of transmitting the Virus to your sexual partner who is HIV  Negative .However  HIV  can still exist in semen ,vaginal secretion, breast milk and pre-seminal fluids etc.You can still infect other people even if your Viral load is LDC(Low Detectable Level) that means the virus is below the level that a lab test can find,ie below 50 copies in a sample of blood. So  for this reason we should continue to take steps to prevent HIV transmission.
You can reduce HIV transmission risk by using ART well as prescribed by the nurses or doctor ,hence you can live a healthier and longer life since there are less HIV in your body.HIV –Positive people should consider continuing on antiretroviral medicine to remain healthier and keep there viral loads undetectable .
