PROPHYLAXIX

Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP (commonly used word amongst people) is a way for people who do not have HIV but who are at a very high  risk of getting it to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. The pill (brand name Truvada) contains two medicines (tenofovir and emtricitabine) that are used in combination with other medicines to treat HIV. The prep drug is taken by peoplewho are HIV negative to act as a prevention from them getting the virus. Thus it definetly means that people who are postive cannot engage with the drug this because the already have the virus, the best adivce is for them to take their arvs diligently. One may wonder if you are negative can you still continue engaging with you partner when taking the prep medicine? It is okay to do so since it gives you full protection to your system.
One thing people ought to.know is that prep does not protect one against STI's thus once should be careful. The medication is taken once a day, after one week of its usage your sytem has now become immuned but it does not mean you stop taking your medicine, you only stop after being given directions by your health adviser(doctor). PrEP has its own part of side effects they include dizzines, vomiting, nausea ,headache, depression, stomach pain and fatigue those are the most common.
One need not to worry on where or how he/she will get the drug. They are found in most pharamcies in Kenya, mostly in the cbd but make sure you buy them from qualified practioners. They prices are not constant in all outlets and also the NGO's sell them at good ranges.
With this information you can engage in safe sex with your patner who happens to have the virus.
