HIV IMPACT ON EDUCATION SECTOR

HIV/AIDS  has had advace wide effects on the education sector. Children’s had effects on their learning experiences. They have been many challenges which affect the learning abilities of children.
For example , many parents , guardians and members of the community have increasingly being affected. This has led to the lack of basic needs of the children such as food, shelter ,clothing, health and education.

Children now are increasingly becoming subject to psycho-socio impacts of HIV/AIDS such as stigma, fear ,worry  ,depression & hopelessness. All of these impacts negatively affect the leatning process of the students.

Children participation in schools also has been affected as some of the students are infected with the virus. This pupils also infecf their friends leading to a large percentage of the students being infected. When much of the students are infected they may have low self esteem leading to getting less knowledge in class.

Attendance and performance in schools is also affected. Absentism due to medical check ups or illness lead to empty classes leading to the teachers being bored hence not delivering accurately. Pupils also tend to drop out of school due to illness.

The spread of HIV/AIDS in institutions has been due to the lack of guidance from the teachers who are some infected. Also some parents and guardians are infected hence have no enough time to talk to their children on this mattera.

Due to the expence of medical check ups and treatment, some parents and guardians lack enough school fees to take to school hence leading to dropping out of school of their children.

Teachers participation & perfomance in the learning process is also being affected as some of the teachers have been infected & therefore are increasingly  unavailable to the pupils. This leads to the pupils lacking proper education knowledge leading to poor performance in exams.

Some teachers get soo ill and pass away due to HIV/AIDS and less or no replacements takes place leading to a reduced number of teachers. Students also get fear when being taught by infected teachers. Also the government uses alot of resources to fight this pandemic leading to a few funds being allocated for the education sector hence leading to failure in the secto
