CULTURAL PRACTICES AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS THAT ENCOURAGE THE SPREAD OF HIV/AIDS
1.Circumcision.
circumcision as a cultural activity may facilitate the spread of HIV/AIDs if the instruments used to perform the operation are unsterilized.Futhermore the,there is more possibility of transmitting HIV/AIDS during circumcision if the initiates have direct contact with each other's blood.
2.Widow/widower inheritance
HIV/AIDS is well known as a killer disease moreso in the married couples.Traditionally if one of the married partner unfortunately die of AIDS, either as a widow or a widower, he/she leaves the other partner being infected with the similar disease.According to various laws from some communities,living a solitary life could be seen as an awkward way of life therefore the abandoned widow or a widower could be forcefully engaged in the second marriage through inheritance of relatives with the irrespective of gender.

polygamous marrige reffers to a situation where a man marries more than two wifes .This is oftenly practised in some traditional societies.The husband having the power tomarry many wifes tend to transmit the spread of HIV/AIDS from a particular infectected wife to another provided that they conduct unprotected sexual activity whenever they engage themselves with different partner through sexual intercourse

This incident arises when most of the growing children especially at puberty stage when they have inaccurate information about the link between sex and AIDS.A a result their ignorance make them to aquire and become infected with HIV without them realising.

Practices such as identification are commonly practised in most of traditional societies.One way of identification is by tatooing which could be so substantive to a particular community,however, it is also dangerous to human life in that for a successful tatoo to be attatched to human body,the use of piercing instuments should be used.And if unsterilized instruments or contaminated with infected blood is shared among different people, there is likelyhoodness of spread of HIV/AIDS.

Although traditional laws permit polygamous marige, some individuals tend to violate various rules pertaining there marriage but it may not be there itention but due to human weakness like being greed for lust.By so doing,and if infected with HIV/AIDS ,they are able to spread the disease outside the marrige or they are subjected to HIV infection which could be aquired outside the couple.
