HIV Arrogance amonst the Population

HIV & AIDS EPIDEMIC
For quite a number of decades, the talk of the deadly and incurable disease called HIV& AIDS has dominated the world. It is a disease which came up in early 80’s and has really engaged scientist in search for its cure. Unfortunately, the scientists have only been able get medicine to prolong the lifespan of infected people. The disease is caused by HIV virus that once it gets into human body it destroys the immune system of the body hence exposing the body to all kinds of diseases.

The effects of the disease socially and economically has been tremendous such that many countries including Kenya have declared it a national disaster. Despite the many efforts that the government has done to prevent the spread of the disease, it has spread at alarming rate over time especially in African countries. Many non- governmental organizations have done a commendable job in their efforts to prevent the spread of the disease by creating awareness on how the disease is contacted and ways of prevention.

Statistics have shown that the diseases spread more faster in poor people as opposed to their rich counterparts. This can be attributed to idleness and having sex as the only source of recreation. The fact that many families are unable to provide basic needs for their children also makes them vulnerable because they are likely to have early sex in exchange of money in their desire to satisfy their basic needs.

Despite the readily available ways of keeping HIV & AIDs at bay including abstinence and use of condoms, many people have portrayed high standards of ignorance as they continue having the dangerous unprotected sex with multiple partners. This makes them at high risk of acquiring HIV& AIDs . It is therefore my appeal to the government and non-governmental organizations to take different dimension and use a more sophisticated ways of fighting the spread of the disease. Due to the large budgets of our income that is spend on HIV& AIDs prevention crusade and drugs, and the severe effects of the disease; I am looking forward to seeing a HIV& Aids free society which is achievable through the efforts of each one of us.
